Exactly one year ago, the world watched as a major earthquake struck Nepal, which killed almost 9,000 people, left millions homeless, toppled centuries-old cultural monuments, and destroyed public infrastructure.
The world quickly stopped watching while the ground kept shaking. Since April 25th, 2015, Nepal has experienced over 400 significant aftershocks, which have been psychologically distressing for the millions of people who are forced to relive one of the nation’s greatest tragedies.
This map shows that it wasn’t just one day, and it wasn’t just one earthquake.
Nepal is on a long road to recovery, and is still building back. Nepal hasn’t forgotten, so neither can we.
